When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

gwojton, 05-29-2008, With the information you provided it sounds like the dentist you went to is charging a very reasonable fee for that crown. Especially for a crown that is Porc. Fused to High Noble Metal (most likely Gold), crowns do not get much better than that. My fee is higher. Now a days with the very high lab fees, and the cost of a dentist/practice owners overhead, that is a very good price. Dentists do not usually like to burden patients with stories of high lab fees, and costly overhead. Not to mention the education, skill, and liability, etc., involved in performing dentistry-this should all be considered in a dentists fee. I hope this information was helpful to you. Hi. That is an average price for a crown. If you are happy with your dentist - then go ahead with no worries. Good Luck! Sameet Koppikar, DDS
