Need Dentist / Specialist: Yes
Provide Cost Estimate: Yes
X-rays Available: No
Case Summary
Broken Tooth Extractions / Oral Surgery
Teeth: 1,15,16,17,32
Last Full Mouth X-Ray: 1.5 years
Last Cleaning: 4 years
Case Description
I have one broken tooth with cavity, and cavities on 2 of 4 wisdom teeth. There is no pain, just discomfort in the broken tooth's area. (feels like I'm always biting my cheek.) I have until January when my dental fund rolls over into the new year, which I am hoping will cover the cost of extraction and/or repair. What dangers are there waiting until January to get this done?

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

If you have broken teeth or any cavities it is always best to get them treated as soon as you can. You''''re lucky they do not hurt, but they will on Sunday over a long weekend, and then you cannot get in to see anybody. Thats Murphy''''s Law. And Murphy loves toothaches!! We would be happy to see you today or tomorrow. Please call the office when you get a chance. Thanks!

Without seeing the tooth, it is impossible to give the best advice. However, it is pretty safe to say that usually postponing treatment causes increased possibility for pain and need for additional, and more expensive treatment. In your case it may mean that the broken tooth could be repaired by a filling or crown, but if you wait it could get worse and also need and root canal to be saved. Of course, in some cases if treatment is postponed, the tooth cannot be saved at all, and must be replaced. Hope this helps.

Please feel free to contact my office. We have ways of making financial arrangements so that cost is not a barrier to receiving treatment that is needed.
